Legacy vibration signal conditioner

IPC704 244-704-000-042

Spare Part Number

PN244-704-000-042

Product Information:

The IPC704 (order number: 244-704-000-042) is the core signal conditioner in Vibro-Meter's machinery monitoring and protection systems. Designed for vibration monitoring in energy, aerospace, industrial turbines, and heavy rotating machinery, its core function is to convert the weak charge signals generated by CA series piezoelectric accelerometers or CP series dynamic pressure sensors into standard current or voltage signals recognizable by the system, enabling high-precision processing.

The specific internal configuration code (-042) of the IPC704 (order number: 244-704-000-042) indicates that this model is designed to provide impedance matching and signal demodulation support for sensors using standard piezoelectric materials. In terms of core electrical parameters and physical architecture, this module supports 18 to 30VDC power supplies, with circuitry encased in a cast aluminum housing (an IP66-rated polyester industrial protective housing is also available, providing dust and water resistance), and offers excellent radio frequency interference (RFI) immunity and electromagnetic compatibility.

The IPC704 (order number: 244-704-000-042) integrates a flexibly configurable fourth-order high-pass filter (0.5Hz to 10Hz) and a second-order low-pass filter (200Hz to 20kHz) with extremely low linearity error (≤ 0.2%). An optional integrator converts acceleration signals to velocity output. This module employs advanced two-wire current modulation technology, enabling lossless transmission of measurement signals up to 1 km (typically requiring a GSI electrical isolation unit), fully meeting the stringent requirements of long-distance transmission in large industrial environments.

Features:

  • For CA... type piezoelectric accelerometers and CP... type dynamic pressure transducers
  • Configurable high-pass and low-pass filters
  • Optional 2-wire current or 3-wire voltage transmission
The IPC 704 signal conditioner converts the chargebased signal coming from a piezoelectric transducer into a current or a voltage signal. This current or voltage signal is transmitted to the processing electronics via any standard 2-wire or 3-wire transmission cable. This method is advantageous as it avoids having to use expensive low-noise cables that are necessary to transmit charge signals.

The current modulation technique allows a transmission distance of over 1000 m. A GSI galvanic separation unit is required for this configuration. The IPC 704 electronic circuitry is fully floating and incorporated into a moulded aluminium enclosure. The conditioner has configurable high-pass and low-pass filters and an optional integrator. In addition, RFI filters protect the input and output against radio-frequency interference and other electromagnetic influences.

The IPC704 244-704-000-042 Vibro-Meter Legacy vibration signal conditioner may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Vibro-Meter IPC704 244-704-000-042 Legacy vibration signal conditioner manual(Datasheets), Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
Main Function: Converts raw piezoelectric charge injection into a standard transmittable level.
Input/Output Specifications (Model -042): Factory calibrated with a specific input/output ratio, typically used in high-temperature dynamic pressure applications (e.g., depending on the configuration, a 7.5 pC/kPa input can be converted to a 50 μA/kPa output).
Housing: Rugged molded aluminum housing shielded against radio frequency interference (RFI).
Linearity Error: Extremely low deviation, limited to ±0.2%.
Transmission Range: Supports long-distance current-modulated signal transmission via standard 2-wire or 3-wire twisted-pair cable, up to 1 km (GSI electrical isolation safety unit required in the loop).
This module is optimized for specific asset tracking application requirements:

No Low-Noise Cable Required: By converting raw piezoelectric charge into a stable current/voltage signal within the turbine housing area, there is no need to lay expensive and faulty low-noise charge cables to the central control room.
Frequency Filtering: The module incorporates low-pass and high-pass hardware filters designed to eliminate irrelevant structural noise, blade passage frequencies, or mechanical background vibration hum.
Optional Integration: A built-in mathematical integrator can be ordered on demand, allowing the raw acceleration curve to be directly output as a vibration velocity index.
Hazardous Environment Classification: With appropriate buffering measures (such as built-in barriers), it can typically be deployed directly in explosion-proof areas (ATEX/IECEx certified).

Technical notes

The IPC704 (order number: 244-704-000-042) is a high-reliability signal modulator for CA/CP sensors, supporting long-distance signal transmission and intrinsically safe explosion-proof applications. Its functions have been replaced by the new generation IPC707 signal modulator and are backward compatible. The IPC 704 signal conditioner is normally mounted in an ABA... type industrial polyester enclosure for environmental protection against dust, oil and water jets.

For example, the IPC704 244-704-000-042 can be configured to process vibration signals with input units of pC/g and output units of µA/g, mV/g, µA/mm/s, or mV/mm/s. Therefore, when identifying the IPC704 244-704-000-042, be sure to check the basic part number and complete option codes on the nameplate.
  • Is the Vibro-Meter IPC704 244-704-000-042 compatible with my existing vibration monitoring system?

The Vibro-Meter IPC704 244-704-000-042 is designed to connect compatible piezoelectric sensors to monitoring, control, or data acquisition systems. It works by converting the sensor's charge signal into a usable voltage or current output. Configurable conversion units include pC/g → µA/g or mV/g, and velocity-related outputs such as pC/g → µA/mm/s or mV/mm/s. Therefore, the IPC704 244-704-000-042 needs to be matched to the sensor's sensitivity and the input requirements of the receiving monitoring system. Before replacing it, please confirm the complete option code, sensor sensitivity, output type, and required filter settings.
  • What are the typical applications of the IPC704 244-704-000-042 vibration meter?

The IPC704 244-704-000-042 vibration meter is commonly used for conditioning vibration and condition monitoring signals. Depending on its configuration, it can process piezoelectric sensor signals related to acceleration, velocity, or pressure. Supported conversion configurations include pC/g to mV or µA/g, pC/g to mV or µA/mm/s, and pressure-related configurations such as pC/bar to mV or µA/mbar. This makes the IPC704 244-704-000-042 suitable for mechanical vibration monitoring, rotating equipment diagnostics, and industrial measurement systems that require the conversion of piezoelectric sensor signals to standardized analog outputs.
  • What precautions should be taken when installing the IPC704 244-704-000-042 vibration meter?

Before installing the IPC704 244-704-000-042 vibration meter, confirm the selected configuration and ensure that the sensor, signal conditioner, and receiving instrument are correctly matched. According to the published specifications, the IPC704 244-704-000-042 operates at approximately 18–30 V DC and has a maximum current of approximately 25 mA. Its configurable high-pass filter options include 0.5 Hz, 1 Hz, 2 Hz, and 5 Hz, while low-pass filter options range from 200 Hz to 20,000 Hz. The IPC704 244-704-000-042 can be used as a standalone signal conditioner, mounted in an industrial enclosure, or mounted on an MA130 mounting adapter. Wiring and grounding should be performed carefully to minimize noise in low-level vibration signals.
  • How to check the stock status of the IPC704 244-704-000-042 vibration meter?

When purchasing the IPC704 244-704-000-042 vibration meter, customers should confirm the complete basic part number 244-704-000-042 and the complete configuration suffix.
