Information

Overview Manuals Multi-sensor compatibility and channel configuration Diagnostic

Features:

  • TI214/x Temperature Input Modules
  • 14 inputs for Pt100/Pt1000 sensors as well as type J or K thermocouples
  • 2-wire or 3-wire input for Pt100/Pt1000 sensors
The temperature recording modules TI214/x provide 14 temperature measuring channels in a single module width. With the TI214 either Pt100/Pt1000 sensors in 2 and 3 wire technology or type J or K thermocouples can be connected to each measuring channel. The TI214/2 module allows for the connection of type N or S thermocouples. The sensor type can be individually selected for each channel. In this way, the most effective and cost-efficient solution can be implemented for the application program. The average determination of the measured value can be set between 16 fold and 64 fold for easy an reliable interference suppression.

The new 3-wire measuring evaluation of the Pt100/Pt1000 sensor compensates for the voltage errors of both symmetrical cable runs and enables the precision of complex 4-wire measuring technology to be implemented in an inexpensive 3‑wire technology. The Pt sensors can also be connected in simple 2-wire technology and this is sufficient for many applications with short measuring lines.

The TI214 Bachmann Temperature Input Modules may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

A key feature of the TI214 is its ability to individually assign sensor types to each channel via software parameters. It natively supports:
Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs): Standard two-wire or precision three-wire topologies can be directly inserted into Pt100 and Pt1000 sensors. The three-wire configuration employs a unique measurement evaluation methodology that actively compensates for voltage errors on symmetrical cable lines.
Thermocouples (TCs): Natively handles linear measurement data from standard Type J (iron/constantan) and Type K (nickel-chromium/nickel-aluminum) thermocouples, regardless of insulation type.
(Note: For special Type N or Type S thermocouples, Bachmann offers the matching model TI214/2.)
Electrical Isolation: All field channels are fully optically isolated from the main system backplane bus to prevent loop voltage surges from damaging the CPU card.
Open Circuit Detection: Onboard active diagnostics continuously scans for open or broken circuits and immediately triggers a system alarm.
Electrical Safety Requirements: Employs a standard 18 to 34 VDC external power supply with integrated reverse polarity protection.

Technical notes

The Bachmann TI214 (including the cold-climate version TI214 CC) is a high-density, multi-functional temperature signal input module designed for M1 automation systems. Its key features include compact integration of 14 independent temperature measurement channels within standard hardware width. It effectively suppresses high-frequency noise interference and features onboard current isolation (isolated from the control system), online open-circuit fault monitoring, and cold junction temperature compensation. This provides a cost-effective system-level solution for multi-point precise temperature control and real-time temperature transmission in harsh industrial environments such as wind power generation, heavy machinery, and factory automation.
