The system provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface and can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The system’s primary applications are vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements.
Each 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System component is backward compatible and interchangeable4 with other nonXL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components. This compatibility includes the 3300 5 mm probe, for applications in which an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.
The 330103-00-22-50-12-05 Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probes may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 3300 XL system is a cornerstone of the global turbine protection industry. This 5-meter-long, fully threaded, extra-long, oil-resistant, and explosion-proof probe is highly representative across various industrial automation supply chains and specialized spare parts distribution channels. During field project maintenance, the probe and its built-in 5-meter cable can typically be directly connected to the dedicated preamplifier of the 5-meter system (Note: Connecting an extension cable between the 5-meter probe and the 5-meter preamplifier is strictly prohibited; otherwise, it will cause changes in overall capacitance and distortion of the measurement output). This "direct connection" design effectively reduces the number of electrical intermediate joints inside and outside the cabinet, significantly reducing the likelihood of channel failures due to oil leaks, damage, or poor contact at joints (absolutely prohibited).
