Its primary function is to acquire analog signals from field instruments such as pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, and flow meters, and convert these signals into digital data that can be processed by the control system. Field devices transmit continuous electrical signals (typically voltage or current, such as 4–20 mA) to the module's input channels. These signals are first processed by filtering and isolation circuitry, and then converted into digital values by a high-resolution analog-to-digital converter. The processed data is then transmitted to the control processor for real-time monitoring, control logic execution, and process optimization.
