Environmental Protection: Prevents dust, moisture, and airborne chemical contaminants from depositing on exposed pins of the active backplane.
Electromagnetic Interference/Radio Frequency Interference Shielding: Prevents electromagnetic and radio frequency interference from penetrating the chassis, which could otherwise interfere with the deterministic timing of surrounding Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) safety modules.
Chassis Airflow Maintenance: Seals panel gaps to ensure that internal forced air cooling (via the T8270 fan bracket assembly) is properly directed to adjacent active modules, rather than prematurely escaping.
