Product Information:

The ICS Triplex T9300 is an industrial I/O base unit (backplane) designed specifically for Rockwell Automation's AADvance controller systems. It operates as a passive expansion backbone, distributing system power, command buses, and response lines to plug-in I/O modules.

Electrically, this base unit integrates one command bus, 24 response buses, and a dual +24V DC redundant power distribution system for efficient transmission of multi-channel high-speed signals.

Physically, it supports direct, compact connection of multiple T9300 units via an integrated plug/socket mechanism (slot numbers 01 to 24), or extension of the bus up to 8 meters using T9310 extension cables compliant with IEC 61508 SIL 3. This safety-grade industrial process control environment provides a highly flexible and fault-tolerant modular expansion solution.

Features:

  • Features a top and bottom retention clip mechanism to interlock adjacent bases
  • Passive PCB housed in heavy-duty, industrial-grade plastic molding
  • Position the I/O module onto the alignment dowel pins of the T9300
AADvance T9300 I/O base units connect to the right hand side of the T9100 processor base unit (I/O Bus 1) and to the right hand side of other T9300 I/O base units by a direct plug and socket connection. The I/O base units connect to the left hand side of the processor base unit by using the T9310 expansion cable (I/O Bus 2). The expansion cable also connects the right hand side of I/O base units to the left hand side of other I/O base units to install extra rows of I/O base units. Base units are secured in place by top and bottom clips that are inserted into the slots on each base unit.

Each physical T9300 base unit supports up to three (3) I/O modules (such as digital input/output or analog input/output cards) and their corresponding termination assemblies.

The T9300 ICS triplex I/O Base Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

When installing the I/O module onto the T9300 backplane:

1. Align the I/O module with the T9300's locating pin.
2. Press the module firmly until the backplane locating pin is fully inserted into the base.
3. Using a 9mm wide-tip flathead screwdriver, turn the module's retaining screw clockwise by one-quarter turn.
4. Important: This locking screw acts as a physical power interlock. If not locked, the T9300 base will refuse to power or configure the module, triggering a hardware failure loop.

Technical notes

The ICS Triplex T9300, manufactured by ICS Triplex, a subsidiary of Rockwell Automation, is an I/O base unit designed specifically for AADvance control systems. As the physical expansion core for the system's distributed I/O, it employs a passive backplane design. Each base provides three I/O module slots (supporting any type of input/output module and corresponding field terminals).
