Simplex Configuration
Features:
- 16-channel, safety-certified Digital Input Simplex Termination Assembly (TA)
- Rockwell Automation AADvance Controller System
- Heavy-duty screw terminal blocks supporting field wire compression
The ICS Triplex T9801 is a digital input terminal block (DPA) in Rockwell Automation's AADvance controller family. Serving as a "bridge" between the physical cabling in the industrial field and the control core, its primary function is to provide physical terminals and electrical distribution for 16 non-isolated digital input signals. It can be directly connected to compatible T9401 or T9402 digital input modules. Designed for simplex, non-redundant applications, this component enables extremely high-density signal access and optimized management while ensuring the safety of critical production environments.
In high-integrity safety control systems (such as SIS and ESD), the T9801 plays the role of signal preprocessing and safety barrier. It not only integrates overvoltage protection and reverse connection protection functions, enhancing electrical robustness, but can also be used with input modules to perform online diagnosis of open circuit or short circuit faults in field circuits such as buttons and switches.
The T9801 ICS triplex Digital Input FTA Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

If you are planning an upgrade or reviewing your system blueprints, be sure to distinguish the T9801 from its multi-module models, as they share the same field terminal dimensions:
T9801 (this model): Holds 1 input module (simplex mode, common input).
T9802: Holds 2 input modules (dual redundancy mode, isolated input).
T9803: Holds 3 input modules (triple redundancy/TMR mode for maximum fault tolerance).
In the AADvance ecosystem, the "termination component" acts as a pass-through interface between field cabling and logic modules. The T9801 is designed for simplex (non-redundant) architectures:
Hardware cabling: It provides physical termination connections for matched digital input modules such as the T9401 or T9402.
Safety and integrity: While the T9801 does not support hot standby module pairs or triple module redundancy (TMR), its single-channel configuration still meets SIL 2 or SIL 3 standards, depending on software configuration, diagnostic coverage, and process safety time parameters.
