Information

Overview Manuals Hardware & Design Highlights Primary Industrial Applications

Features:

  • Available in standard versions and Ex versions certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
  • Symmetrical sensor with internal case insulation and differential output
  • Hermetically welded austenitic stainless-steel case and heat-resistant stainless-steel protection hose
The CA202 is a piezoelectric accelerometer from Meggitt’s vibro-meter® product line. The CA202 sensor features a symmetrical shearmode polycrystalline measuring element with internal case insulation in an austenitic stainlesssteel case (housing). The CA202 is fitted with an integral low-noise cable that is protected by a flexible stainless-steel protection hose (leaktight) which is hermetically welded to the sensor to produce a sealed leaktight assembly.

The CA202 piezoelectric accelerometer is available in different versions for different industrial environments: Ex versions for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres (hazardous areas) and standard versions for use in nonhazardous areas. The CA202 piezoelectric accelerometer is designed for heavy-duty industrial vibration monitoring and measurement.

The CA202 144-202-000-215 Vibro-Meter CA202 piezoelectric accelerometer may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Integrated Protective Cable: Employs a low-noise cable encased in a sealed, flexible stainless steel protective hose. This hose connects directly to the sensor body via gas welding.
Rugged Housing: Constructed from austenitic stainless steel, it withstands structural impacts and industrial fluid corrosion.
Non-Hazardous Area Use: The suffix 215 indicates a standard industrial version. (For explosive atmospheres, Meggitt offers explosion-proof versions with suffixes 115 or 216.)
This sensor family is trusted worldwide for monitoring critical vibration peaks, helping maintenance teams detect bearing wear or structural imbalances early in rotating equipment such as heavy-duty gas turbines and large-capacity industrial steam turbines; large power generation equipment and turbo compressors; and high-stress chemical and petrochemical process pumps.

Technical notes

The Vibro-Meter CA202 (model number: 144-202-000-215), now owned by Meggitt, is a high-temperature piezoelectric accelerometer designed for harsh industrial environments such as gas turbines and steam turbines. Its technical documentation indicates that the unit employs a symmetrical shear-mode polycrystalline measuring element and an austenitic stainless steel housing, featuring a high charge sensitivity of 100 pC/g, a frequency response of 0.5 to 6000 Hz, and a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to 260°C. The suffix "-215" specifically indicates that the unit is equipped with a 6-meter-long built-in low-noise cable protected by a sealed stainless steel flexible conduit, reliably transmitting differential charge signals to a matched charge amplifier (such as a signal conditioner like the IPC70x) without the need for an external power source, for mechanical condition monitoring and fault diagnosis.
