Features:
- Built-in 24-bit Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter architecture yielding a calibrated 16-bit system output
- Scans and updates all 16 channels within 180 milliseconds
- Typically requires 5V DC at 500 mA (750 mA maximum) directly from the backplane line
The ABB IMASI23 (or SPASI23) is a high-performance general-purpose analog input slave module suitable for Symphony Harmony rack-mount I/O systems. This module features 16 freely configurable analog input channels, supporting voltage, current, isolated thermocouple, RTD, and mV signal inputs, and provides 24-bit high-precision A/D conversion. Functionally, all channels have a conversion cycle of only 180ms, strong noise immunity (single-mode ≥ -80dB, common-mode ≥ -120dB), and 250VDC common-mode isolation voltage.
Furthermore, it integrates intelligent diagnostic tools, supporting open-circuit, over-limit, and fault monitoring, and supports hot-swapping for easy and rapid maintenance. Its operating principle is as follows: field sensor signals enter the module via the terminal unit, undergo signal conditioning, and then are converted from analog to digital signals by their respective 24-bit A/D converters. Finally, the onboard microcontroller processes the data and exchanges data in real-time with the main controller via dual-port RAM and I/O expansion bus.
The IMASI23 ABB Analog Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The "General Purpose" designation means this card can directly handle various sensor inputs via onboard hardware jumpers and software parameter definitions:
High-level signals: 0 to 5 VDC, 1 to 5 VDC, 0 to 10 VDC, ±10 VDC, and standard 4 to 20 mA current loops.
Thermocouples (TC): Supports B, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, T, and U-type thermocouples. This module integrates native cold junction compensation (CJC) reference switching to automatically eliminate terminal temperature drift errors.
Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs): Supports three-wire configurations of 100 Ω platinum resistance (European and US standards), 120 Ω nickel resistance, and 10 Ω or 53 Ω copper resistance.
Low-level millivolt signals: -100 mV to +100 mV and 0 to 100 mV ranges.
This module features a built-in high-resolution analog-to-digital converter (ADC) capable of accurately demodulating, temperature-compensating, and linearizing weak electrical signals in the field, while also possessing strong immunity to common-mode and differential-mode interference. At the control system integration and full lifecycle definition level, the module seamlessly connects to field lines via dedicated terminal units (e.g., NTDI01/NTAI06) and exchanges data in real-time, deterministically high-speed with the central processing unit (module bus) via the INFI-NET bus within the control cabinet. In accordance with ABB's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) strategy, as a classic and mature model in the Symphony series, this module is currently in the official lifecycle maintenance/spare parts (classic/limited) phase. ABB officially offers original equipment replacement parts, refurbished parts support, and seamless upgrade and technology migration solutions to upgrade to the next-generation Symphony Plus (S+ Operations/S+ Engineering) system, thereby ensuring the long-term stable operation of users' existing assets.
