Features:
- Outfitted with a 16-channel layout to interface with localized field machinery
- It adopts a standard industrial-grade 24V DC nominal power supply
- Rated for a continuous load capacity of 0.5 A per channel
This module is typically mounted directly on the right side of the main controller rack, primarily to provide additional standard S800 I/O module slots for the system, thereby significantly increasing the measurement and control channel density of the local control station. As a core communication backplane, it can seamlessly integrate various process field signals, such as temperature (e.g., RTD signals), pressure, or proximity switch signals, enabling high-speed and stable data exchange between underlying sensors and the distributed control system (DCS).
In terms of system high availability and industrial protection, this module integrates superior physical architecture design and security mechanisms. It comes standard with hot-swappable underlying slot logic, enabling operators to replace and safely maintain faulty I/O units online without interrupting the operation of the entire control cabinet system.
The NMTU-21C 3BSE017429R1 ABB Secure Terminal Device may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Due to its robust, industrial-grade electrical insulation, the NMTU-21C is widely used in a variety of harsh environments to process proximity sensor trigger signals and provide reliable signal logic for field actuators:
Oil and Gas Processing: for signal conversion of isolated valves and safety instruments.
Mining Operations: for transmitting physical diagnostic information over long-distance process pipelines.
Marine Systems: for securely routing automation scripts in a compact control panel layout.
This module is typically used with ABB high-end controllers (e.g., AC 800M) or universal terminal blocks in S800 I/O station systems.
Maintenance Recommendation: When replacing this module or terminal block, always perform the operation with the system powered off and verify the parameter configuration and address mapping (station address) of the I/O channels in the underlying controller to prevent communication identification failures or channel configuration confusion after replacement.
