The 3300 XL probe and extension cable also reflect improvements over previous designs. A patented TipLoc molding method provides a more robust bond between the probe tip and the probe body. The probe’s cable incorporates a patented CableLoc design that provides 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to more securely attach the probe cable and probe tip.

8 mm probes provide a thicker encapsulation of the probe coil in the molded PPS plastic probe tip. This results in a more rugged probe. The larger diameter of the probe body also provides a stronger, more robust case. We recommend that you use 8 mm probes when possible to provide optimal robustness against physical abuse.

Bearing Wear Tracking: Mounted directly within the hydrodynamic (sliding) bearing housing, used to measure the rapid dynamic trajectory of a rotating shaft.
Dual Probe Configuration: Typically installed in pairs, spaced 90° apart (orthogonal X and Y axes). This dual probe configuration allows predictive maintenance teams to map the shaft's trajectory and detect problems such as rotor imbalance, shaft misalignment, or structural loosening immediately before catastrophic failures occur.

Rotor Drift Prevention: Mounted on the shoulder or end face of a rotating shaft to measure minute displacements along its longitudinal axis.
Thrust Bearing Protection: Critical for tracking wear on internal axial thrust bearings. If process shocks cause excessive axial forward or backward drift, this probe can detect this displacement immediately, allowing monitoring equipment to trip the machine before the rotating blades collide with the stationary stator.

Phase Reference Timing: Directly aligned with machined grooves, keyways, or protrusions on the shaft.
Dynamic Analysis: Triggers a transient voltage each time the groove passes the probe tip. This single-pulse signal, which occurs once per revolution, provides accurate reference values for rotational speed (RPM) and critical phase angle, and can be used to filter vibration data into precise 1x, 2x, or subsynchronous frequency components.

Technical notes

Bently Nevada's 330101-02-70-10-11-05 is an 8 mm eddy current displacement probe (proximity probe) from the 3300 XL Proximity Transducer System, designed for high-precision measurement of shaft displacement, radial vibration, and axial position in critical rotating machinery applications. Compliant with API 670 standards, this probe provides accurate non-contact measurement signals for machinery protection and condition monitoring systems such as the 3500 Series Monitoring System. Its ordering codes define the mechanical configuration and installation features: 02 indicates a 20 mm unthreaded length configuration, providing additional installation flexibility between the probe tip and threaded section; 70 specifies a 70 mm overall case length with a 3/8-24 UNF threaded body and unarmored probe construction; 10 represents a 1.0 meter (approximately 3.3 feet) integral cable length; 11 identifies the inclusion of a Miniature ClickLoc™ coaxial connector without armor, featuring a secure locking design for reliable signal transmission in vibration environments; 05 indicates approval from multiple international hazardous area certification organizations, including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx, allowing use in classified industrial environments. With an 8 mm probe tip diameter, 2 mm linear measurement range, and wide operating temperature capability, the 330101-02-70-10-11-05 provides reliable displacement monitoring performance for turbines, compressors, pumps, and other high-value rotating equipment.
