The ELFD controller bracket provides a mounting platform for up to two SafetyNet controllers (8851-LC-MT). It can also accommodate a power monitoring module (8410-NS-PS) that can monitor the operation of up to two 8913-PS-AC power supplies, four 8914-PS-AC power supplies, and the intrinsically safe module's 12V power supply (when in use). Each controller has a serial port connector and a manually operated "Change Status" button. The bracket also provides terminals for leak fault detection.
The SafetyNet controller also manages the enforcement of redundancy policies, allowing it to operate as either a primary or backup node.
The MTL 8851-LC-MT GENERAL ELECTRIC SafetyNet Controller may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 8851-LC-MT SafetyNet controller stores and runs SafetyNet applications downloaded from Workbench. It manages multiple communication paths: communication with I/O modules installed on the local node via internal Railbus; communication with other entities on the Ethernet LAN (other MOST nodes, PCs running Workbench programming tools, HMIs, historical data packages, and asset management tools); and communication with remotely installed serial devices.
