Product Information:

The ICS Triplex T9451 is an 8-channel isolated 24V DC digital output module designed by Rockwell Automation specifically for AADvance safety controller systems. It is suitable for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and critical control loops, managing high-integrity actuators such as emergency isolation valves, solenoid valves, and trip relays.

The T9451 also features advanced channel-level voltage/load current monitoring, bidirectional short/open circuit monitoring, and reverse current/overvoltage electrical isolation protection. Through a flexible snap-on connection to the AADvance passive base, the module can be configured in simplex, duplex, or triplex Module Redundancy (TMR) architectures (simplex/duplex redundancy scan cycles as fast as 1.174 ms/...).

With a lifespan of up to 2.202 ms, it supports hot-swappable in-line replacement to ensure uninterrupted production and fully complies with IEC 61508 SIL 3 safety level requirements. It is widely used in critical life safety control areas, such as emergency stop (ESD) and fire gas systems (F&G).

The T9451 digital output module has 8 channels for a maximum of 8 field elements and can switch 1 A at 32 Vdc for each device. It features voltage and load current monitoring on each channel, reverse current protection and short and open circuit line monitoring.

It is designed to always be able to switch off an output when demanded. No single failure in the module can cause a stuckon failure. The module supports dual redundant power feeds for field devices without the need for external diodes.

The T9451 ICS Triplex Digital Output Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The AADvance Workbench has settings for individual digital output channels:
You can specify a shutdown state for an output channel that defines how the output will behave when the module is in a shutdown mode.
You can disable the line test feature for an output that disables detection of a no-load condition (e.g. for used output channels).
  • Emergency Shutdown (ESD) System: In the event of a hazardous industrial accident, forces critical processes into a safe state by cutting off power to isolation valves or stopping equipment operation.
  • Fire and Gas (F&G) Protection: Activates deluge valves, fire suppression systems, and audible and visual alarms upon detection of toxic gases or flames.
  • Burnout Management System (BMS): Manages the safe ignition, monitoring, and rapid fuel cutoff of industrial boilers, furnaces, and kilns.
  • Critical Process Interlocks: Controls solenoid valves, motor starters, and heaters to prevent equipment damage or production loss due to output failures.
