Features:
- I/O Companion Slot Internal 40 Channel Output to FTA (Integral Power)
- Trusted I/O Companion Slot Cables
- Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH), specifically formulated to prevent the release of toxic, corrosive gases during an industrial plant fire
The ICS Triplex TC-215-02-12M5 is a 40-channel I/O slot connection cable designed for triple-redundant systems. Serving as the physical bridge for long-distance network interconnects in Rockwell Automation's ICS Triplex Trusted Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), its primary function is to provide high-density signal alignment between primary I/O cards (such as digital or analog modules) within the control rack and adjacent spare slots and free terminals (FTAs). The "12M5" suffix indicates its precise physical length, up to 12.5 meters, designed for long-distance cabling topologies spanning multiple racks or between control rooms and electrical rooms.
This modular cable integrates unified power distribution, enabling stable simultaneous transmission of data from 40 field signal channels and providing lateral power support. Its outer sheath is made of explosion-proof, flame-retardant, low-smoke halogen-free (LSZH) material (model "02"), ensuring no release of harmful or toxic halogen gases even under extreme temperature, vibration, or fire conditions, meeting high international industrial safety standards. This cable is widely used in industrial applications with extremely high safety requirements, such as emergency shutdown (ESD) and fire and gas monitoring (F&G) applications, fully supporting online hot-swapping of I/O modules and zero-switching fault repair without interrupting production processes.
The TC-215-02-12M5 ICS Triplex Trusted I/O Companion Slot Cable Assembly may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

In practical industrial applications, the TC-215-02-12M5 cable is widely used in environments requiring the highest SIL3 safety level, such as offshore oil and gas platforms, large petrochemical refineries, and nuclear power plant control systems. It is primarily used with digital output modules such as the T8451 (24V DC) or T8471 (120V DC) and corresponding field terminals, and is widely used in emergency shutdown (ESD) systems, fire and gas monitoring (F&G) systems, and overspeed protection circuits for critical turbine machinery, ensuring safe, accurate, and reliable transmission of safety interlock control signals in extreme emergency situations at power plants.
Because the Trusted system employs a Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture compliant with SIL3 high safety standards, its internal power distribution and cable pin logic are strictly fixed. If the original 12.5-meter (12M5) cable is unavailable, the following are officially approved alternatives:
1. Length Adjustment Replacement (same specifications, different length): TC-215-02-10M5 (10.5 meters) or TC-215-02-15M0 (15.0 meters): The suffix TC-215 allows manufacturers to customize in 0.5-meter increments. If slightly shorter (10.5 meters) or slightly longer (15.0 meters) cables of the same model are available in the rack or cable tray, they can be used directly; their internal electrical pin layout is the same as the 12M5.
2. Material Certification Replacement (Cross-Regional Standard Replacement): TC-215-03-12M5 (UL Certified Material): The "-02-" in the model number indicates a low-smoke halogen-free (LSZH) flame-retardant material conforming to European and international standards; "-03-" indicates a UL-certified cable material designed specifically for the North American market. The channel function, front dual 96-pin Type-C connector, and rear 96-pin Type-R connector are fully interchangeable, allowing for direct use of different materials in emergency replacements.
3. Functional Cross-Compatibility Warning (Non-Replaceable Models): Do not attempt to replace TC-215 with TC-202 (Analog/Digital Input Flying Lead) or TC-505/TC-303. These products are designed for completely different I/O modules (e.g., input-to-output) and FTA topologies; forced mixing will directly trigger a safety diagnostic fault in the main processor (e.g., T8110B/C) or cause hardware damage.
