- Designed for reliable, high-speed data communication between host computers
The APPLICOM-PCI1000 is a multi-protocol PCI industrial communication card designed specifically for industrial automation. Its core function is to enable a PC (industrial computer) to directly connect to various fieldbus networks, acting as a communication bridge between the control system and field devices.
In terms of functional integration, this module boasts a high degree of independence and real-time performance. The card features an onboard high-performance processor and an independent communication stack. All protocol processing and data transmission/reception are completed internally by the communication card, without consuming the PC host's CPU resources, thus ensuring efficient and stable communication.
The APPLICOM-PCI1000 WOODHEAD Network Interface Card may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The APPLICOM-PCI1000 exchanges data at high speed with the host via the PCI bus, utilizing its onboard dedicated microprocessor to run specific communication drivers in real time. When the host application issues a command, the card's internal protocol engine encapsulates the data into standard bus frames and sends them to the network; conversely, it continuously polls the status of field devices, storing the acquired raw data in an internal dual-port RAM buffer. The host only needs to directly read the memory image to obtain the latest field information, achieving deep decoupling between the physical link and the logical application.
