Product Information:

The Bently Nevada 330101-00-16-10-11-05 is an industrial-grade 3300 XL series 8mm eddy current proximity sensor probe. As a core sensor in Bently Nevada's (a Baker Hughes brand) asset protection and condition monitoring systems, it is widely and securely installed near the hydrodynamically lubricated bearings of high-value rotating machinery such as industrial steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, large steam turbine expanders, and fans. This probe is designed for non-contact, high-precision measurement of rotor radial vibration, axial displacement (position), and critical phase velocity signals.

In terms of its basic operating principle, the probe tip is encapsulated in high-strength polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) insulation, and the housing is precision-manufactured from 303/304 stainless steel, fully capable of withstanding long-term immersion and continuous rinsing in high-temperature lubricating oil from -52°C to +177°C. Within its measurement range (linearity up to 2.0 mm), it fully complies with the linearity and temperature drift specifications of the American Petroleum Institute (API) 670 standard. When used with the dedicated [3300 XL proximity sensor], it utilizes the eddy current effect of a high-frequency electromagnetic field to convert micrometer-level physical gap changes between the probe tip and the AISI 4140 steel journal surface into a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) standard proportional voltage signal of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil). This provides stable and fully interchangeable precision monitoring data for online monitors in the control room, such as the 3500 system, eliminating the need for individual calibration of each instrument.

The 3300 XL probe and extension cable also reflect improvements over previous designs. A patented TipLoc molding method provides a more robust bond between the probe tip and the probe body. The probe’s cable incorporates a patented CableLoc design that provides 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to more securely attach the probe cable and probe tip.

8 mm probes provide a thicker encapsulation of the probe coil in the molded PPS plastic probe tip. This results in a more rugged probe. The larger diameter of the probe body also provides a stronger, more robust case. We recommend that you use 8 mm probes when possible to provide optimal robustness against physical abuse.

Because this configuration uses a 1.0-meter unarmored pigtail cable with a FluidLoc layer, it is ideally suited for installation within internal bearing housings, where liquid ingress is a primary concern. Technicians installing this unit must securely slide the factory-installed connector guard onto the ClickLoc coaxial connector to prevent residual moisture and condensation from entering. The absence of heavy metal armor results in a smaller overall cable diameter, allowing maintenance personnel to easily thread the cable through dense conduits or narrow supports. This metric-equivalent, imperial threaded model is a high-demand replacement component for power plant and refinery maintenance worldwide.
