The 3300 XL probe and extension cable also reflect improvements over previous designs. A patented TipLoc molding method provides a more robust bond between the probe tip and the probe body. The probe’s cable incorporates a patented CableLoc design that provides 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to more securely attach the probe cable and probe tip.

8 mm probes provide a thicker encapsulation of the probe coil in the molded PPS plastic probe tip. This results in a more rugged probe. The larger diameter of the probe body also provides a stronger, more robust case. We recommend that you use 8 mm probes when possible to provide optimal robustness against physical abuse.

The 330102-00-43-05-02-05 Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probes may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Because this probe cable is 0.5 meters (-0.5), a 4.5-meter extension cable must be used to connect it to the standard 5.0-meter Proximitor sensor. Using a 0.5-meter probe with an incorrect 8.5-meter extension cable will alter the system's total impedance, disrupt the calibration linearity curve, and cause the monitoring rack to record permanent voltage faults or false machine trips.

Technical notes

The Bently Nevada 330102-00-43-05-02-05 is an 8mm metric reverse-mount eddy current displacement probe (proximity probe) fully compliant with API 670 3300 XL series standards. Based on its suffix parameters, key technical features of this model include: a threadless housing design (00), a total housing length of 43mm, M10 x 1 metric thread ideal for reverse screwing into bearing housings or deep holes; a total system length of 0.5 meters (1.6 feet); a 0.2-inch FluidLoc signal cable with corrosion and liquid penetration resistance; and a standard ClickLoc miniature coaxial connector and a 0.5-inch flexible stainless steel armored protective sleeve.
