Features:
- 2-Channel High-Precision Tachometer/Overspeed Detector
- Captures rapid sensor pulses up to a maximum frequency of 20 kHz
- Reads dynamic voltage swing inputs spanning from +10.0 V down to -24.0 V
The Bently Nevada Electronic Overspeed Detection System for the 3500 Series Machinery Detection System provides a highly reliable, fast response, redundant tachometer system intended specifically for use as part of an overspeed protection system. It is designed to meet the requirements of American Petroleum Institute (API) Standards 670 and 612 pertaining to overspeed protection
This module can continuously read speed sensor signals, and once it detects that the machine speed exceeds a preset safety threshold, it can quickly release the trip output within 40 milliseconds, thereby safely shutting down the equipment before catastrophic mechanical damage occurs.
The 3500/54M 286566-01 Bently Nevada Overspeed detection/tachometer module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

1.Steam and Gas Turbine Emergency Trip System (ETS): Monitors rapid acceleration of heavy-duty generator turbine rotors. If the generator suddenly unloads, causing the turbine to spin freely, the module triggers its built-in relay within 15 milliseconds, disconnecting the hydraulic trip joint and isolating the main steam or gas supply line.
2.Turbine Compressor Anti-Surge and Overspeed Interlock: Widely used in petrochemical or oil extraction gas compressors. It actively monitors rotor acceleration and initial speed to ensure structural protection before extreme mechanical forces damage the internal impeller.
3.Large Mechanical Shaft Rotation Hazard Monitoring: Tracks critical process infrastructure,
including: high-power electric motors driving large water or oil injection pumps;
turbo expanders operating in cryogenic separation units;
heavy-duty industrial gearboxes to prevent reverse rotation hazards.
