Features:
- Emergency Turbine Protection I/O Module
- Securely mount the TREA terminal board
- When used with the TREA junction box, it provides an independent backup overspeed protection system
The primary function of the GE IS220PPRAH1A is to connect field safety-critical sensors designed to receive, process, and monitor critical safety signals from mechanical equipment, such as overspeed, overheat, or emergency stop (ESD) signals.
Using dedicated terminal blocks (such as the TPRFH1A), this module provides a critical emergency protection interface for large rotating machinery, such as gas turbines and steam turbines. In practical industrial applications, this module demonstrates high reliability, deterministic real-time response, and robust fault tolerance.
The IS220PPRAH1A General Electric Emergency Turbine Protection I/O Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

IS220PPRAH1A is a dedicated version of the standard Mark VIe IS220PPROH1A backup protection module. While the standard PPRO module handles basic tripping circuits, PPRA adds dedicated internal hardware and modified firmware to natively monitor the speed input of all six shafts. This architecture supports connecting two speed sensors to each turbine shaft and simultaneously cross-divides these frequency signals into three matched protection circuits.
Computational Protection: Monitors multi-channel speed inputs, calculates firmware overspeed thresholds, sudden acceleration, and rapid deceleration.
Hardware Overspeed Protection: Includes hardwired logic bypass, ensuring emergency tripping even if the internal processor firmware is locked.
Watchdog Monitoring: Monitors the operating status of the main turbine control I/O components (PTUR) and the main trip panel (TRPA).
Network Connectivity: Built-in dual 100 Mbps full-duplex Ethernet ports, enabling real-time data transmission to the control module via the internal IONet network protocol.
