- Series Mark VIe & Mark VIeS Discrete Output Module
- Mark VIe & Mark VIeS Control Systems
- Mark VIe Series produced by General Electric
Its primary function is to transmit digital control commands from the central controller to field devices such as relays, solenoid valves, contactors, and other actuators. By converting logic control commands into electrical output signals, the IS420YDOAS1B enables the control system to perform critical operations, including equipment startup, shutdown, and process regulation. This function ensures precise and reliable control of the mechanical and electrical components in complex industrial plants.
The module supports multiple discrete output channels, allowing simultaneous control of multiple field devices, while built-in diagnostic functions help operators monitor output status and quickly detect anomalies such as line or channel faults. The IS420YDOAS1B's rugged industrial design enables reliable operation in harsh environments such as power plants, gas turbines, and large process industries, where stable output control is crucial for system safety.
The IS420YDOAS1B GENERAL ELECTRIC Discrete Output Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Control commands generated by the Mark Vie processor are transmitted to this module via the system's I/O network. The IS420YDOAS1B parses these digital commands and activates the corresponding output circuits, switching the electrical states of each channel to power or de-power connected field devices. Simultaneously, the module continuously monitors its output status and feeds diagnostic information back to the controller. Through this two-way interaction, the IS420YDOAS1B enables precise real-time control and monitoring of field devices in automation systems.
1. Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS): Used in critical shutdown procedures and safety loop applications where accurate, fail-safe output control is crucial.
2. Steam Turbine Control: Provides high-speed (6ms response time) discrete output management for gas turbine and steam turbine systems.
3. Actuator Control: Manages up to 12 relay outputs with onboard diagnostics to verify contact continuity and coil integrity.
The front panel of this component is equipped with a series of LED indicators.
Yellow LED: Indicates when an output command activates a specific relay.
ATTN LED: A dual-color (red/green) LED that flashes in a specific pattern to indicate processor status and network health.
