The system provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface and can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The system’s primary applications are vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements.
Each 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System component is backward compatible and interchangeable4 with other nonXL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components5. This compatibility includes the 3300 5 mm probe, for applications in which an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.
The 330180-91-00 Bently Nevada 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 3300 XL 8 mm system is primarily intended for fluid-film bearing machinery, where proximity measurement is used for vibration and shaft-position monitoring. The same platform also supports Keyphasor reference and speed measurement applications.
This sensor is designed for high-precision condition monitoring in the following scenarios:
Vibration and Displacement Monitoring: Measures radial vibration and axial (thrust) position of the rotor shaft.
Rotating Machinery: Widely used in turbines, compressors, generators, and pumps in the oil, gas, and power generation industries.
Hydrodynamic Bearing Machinery: Ideal for monitoring machinery using hydrodynamic bearings, providing real-time data on shaft displacement and clearance.
Critical Phasor and Velocity Measurement: Provides critical time and velocity reference signals (marked by revolutions) required for balancing and diagnostics.
The 3300 XL system is designed so compatible Proximitor sensors, probes and cables can be exchanged without the traditional requirement to individually calibrate each matched set. This interchangeability can simplify spare-parts management and facilitate replacement when a sensor or cable requires maintenance.
