Main Applications
Features:
- Industrial backplane termination board
- As a dedicated motherboard for its K system signal conditioner
- It enables the safe and orderly installation and signal transmission of digital input (DI) modules
This terminal block also features robust power management and diagnostic capabilities, equipped with redundant power input design to ensure high system availability, and integrated LED indicators and relay alarm outputs for real-time monitoring of power status and line faults.
Its compact DIN rail mounting design and standard interfaces (such as the 50-pin AKB331 system cable interface) greatly simplify wiring within the control cabinet, enhancing the anti-interference capability and overall reliability of signal transmission in industrial environments.
The MB-16U5L-103681 MB-C3-DI32-AKB-131969 Pepperl + Fuchs Termination board may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

In operation, the device receives level signals from hazardous areas or the field side via an isolation barrier module (such as the KFD2 series) mounted on it, and uses optocoupler or electromagnetic isolation technology to convert these signals into logic signals recognizable by the control system in the safe area. During transmission, the internal circuitry of the terminal block decouples, monitors, and provides fuse protection for the supply voltage, ensuring that even in the event of power fluctuations or single-circuit failures, the 32 digital input signals can still be stably converged to the host computer or PLC/DCS system through predefined system cables.
These boards are typically used in the following environments and systems:
- DCS Integration (Honeywell Experion PKS): The "C3" in the model name usually indicates compatibility with the Honeywell C Series I/O system used in the Experion PKS controller. It facilitates connection between field signals and the C300 controller.
- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS): Used in hazardous areas (oil and gas, chemical plants) to provide intrinsically safe barriers and signal isolation for critical safety loops.
- High-Density Digital Inputs (DI): DI32 indicates support for 32 digital input channels, making it ideal for monitoring a large number of discrete field contacts (such as limit switches or alarm relays) in a single module.
- Redundant Control Systems: These boards feature redundant power inputs, ensuring continuous operation of the control system even if one power supply fails, which is crucial for normal process operation.
