Features:
- I/O Expansion Board
- Power Supplies, Controllers, & Miscellaneous Series
- It allows an additional eight discrete inputs and eight relay outputs to be connected via CAN bus to the Woodward genset controllers easYgen series
In complex power generation systems such as distributed energy, emergency backup power, and ship automation, the built-in channels of a controller are often insufficient to meet the monitoring needs of numerous peripheral devices.
The 8440-1041 provides an additional 8 discrete/digital inputs and 8 relay outputs through hardware expansion, enabling the system to seamlessly connect to more field switch signals, fault contacts, and drive more alarms or actuators.
The 8440-1041 WOODHEAD I/O expansion board may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The working principle is based on digital signal conditioning, microprocessor logic mapping, and high-speed CAN fieldbus closed-loop communication. In the input direction, when the auxiliary contacts, pressure switches, etc. of the field device trigger discrete signals, the input channel of the expansion board first converts the physical electrical signal into a standard logic digital quantity through the internal level conditioning and filtering circuit. Then, the onboard microprocessor reads the signal and processes it according to the user-preset delay and alarm strategies.
